Yass Valley Council has been approached by members of the community for the development of a pump track within Murrumbateman, NSW.
Overview
Council resolved at its meeting on 19 December 2024 to establish the Murrumbateman Pump Track Focus Group. The group will provide advice to Council on the location and development of the track from establishment phase until completion of a concept design. The group will assist in drafting recommendations and actions for the implementation of the project, and act as champions for the project within the broader community.
Concept design
As part of a focus group meeting discussion, a sketched design was presented which outlines the attributes of a proposed pump track. These include:
Beginner level track
Intermediate/expert level track
Proposed sealed track surface
1,500m2 approximate size of track
Recommended locations
The adopted Yass Valley Open Space Strategy 2024-2036 identifies the available open space within Murrumbateman. Council staff identified the only available locations within Murrumbateman that will accommodate the proposed size of the pump track.
The three sites identified for consideration are:
Murrumbateman Common Morrison Place
Murrumbateman Recreation Ground 19 East Street
Hawthorn 3685 Barton Highway
Yass Valley Council will undertake community consultation for a preferred location of a pump track within Murrumbateman.
