Draft Code of Meeting Practice

At the Council Meeting held on Thursday 28 May 2026, Council resolved to place the draft Code of Meeting Practice on public exhibition.

The Legislative Council passed a disallowance Motion on 26 May 2026 which means the current version of the Code, prescribed and mandated by the Office of Local Government is no longer legal. Council has been instructed that we now need to revert back to a former version of the Code of Meeting Practice which is in compliance with the 2021 Model Code of Meeting Practice.

Consultation on the draft Code of Meeting Practice will take place for 42 days. Submissions close on Monday 13 July 2026.
